after completing 2 months of intensive cross cultural, technical and language training, i visited the village of mabaruma for the first time. this is where i would spend the next two years. mabaruma is about a 1 1/2 hour flight from georgetown. while the population of mabaruma is about 2500, there are several small villages surrounding mabaruma where i spent most of my time.
